The stars showed up for the Windsor Spitfires on Wednesday, helping the club secure a 4-1 in Game 4 and an opportunity to advance to Round 2 as they head home up three games to one over the Soo Greyhounds.
The game would remain scoreless until the 15:01 mark of the 1st period when Travis Hayes scored his third goal of the series to put SOO on top 1-0. It was quickly answered though as it only took 24 seconds for Noah Morneau to tie the game at one.
In the second period, Greyhounds goaltender Nolan Lalonde would get tangled up in a collision as Chase Reid and Carter Hicks were in a foot race to the SOO net and Reid would collide with his own goaltender, forcing Lalonde to leave the game and not return.
The Spitfires would score 3 unanswered goals the rest of the way including an empty netter late in the third to seal the game 4 victory.
Ethan Morneau and Ilya Protas both scored twice and added a helper while Liam Greentree collected two assists in the victory. Greentree also recorded 8 shots on goal. Joey Costanzo picked up the win, stopping 23 of 24 in this one while Landon Miller stopped 12 of 14 shots in relief.
This series heads back to the WFCU Centre in Windsor for Game 5 on Friday at 7:05pm.
