The London Knights have put the Owen Sound Attack on the brink of elimination after a 7-4 victory in game 3 and now lead the series 3-0.
After taking the first two games at home, the London Knights made the trip to the Bayshore for games 3 & 4 looking to continue their dominant play. Early on, Owen Sound had other ideas. It took only 3:21 for Ben Cormier to open the scoring and give the Attack a 1-0 lead. The Attack would be in front until the very late stages of the opening period when Sam Dickinson and Sam O’Reilly would score 25 seconds apart in the final minute of the first, giving the Knights a 2-1 lead after 20.
The Attack would score early in the second as Landon Hookey would score his first of the series evening the score at 2. London would score the next two goals as Denver Barkey and Easton Cowan helped their club get back in front approaching the midway point of regulation. Despite the two goal deficit, the Attack would not go away. Tristan Delisle and Declan Waddick were able to beat Knights goaltender Austin Elliot to send this game into the second intermission tied at 2.
With 20 minutes to go, it felt like it was make or break time for the Attack as they looked to avoid a 3-0 hole in the series. However, the London Knights put the pedal to metal and scored 3 times in the final frame to take game 3, 7-4. London would outshoot Owen Sound in the 3rd period 15-4 and 39-22 in the hockey game.
Austin Elliot stops 18 of 22 for the victory while Carter George suffers the loss, making 33 saves on 39 shots.
The Knights will look to punch their ticket to Round 2 on Thursday at 7:00pm from the Bayshore in Owen Sound.
