The London Knights are the first team in the OHL to punch their ticket to round two, after an 8-4 win in Game 4, sweeping away the Owen Sound Attack at the Bayshore.
It was an offensive onslaught from the start as the Knights would score 6:36 into the game thanks to Denver Barkey’s fifth goal of the series. Owen Sound would find an answer about six minutes later as Masen Wray tied the game up at one, getting the home crowd back into the game. However, just 14 seconds later, Cam Allen would quiet the crowd with his first of the series. That would give London a 2-1 lead and that is how the opening period would end.
In the second, the Knight would create some series separation between themselves and the Attack as London would score four answered in the 2nd. Kasper Halttunen, Noah Read, Easton Cowan and Sam Dickinson would all beat Carter George making it 6-1 for London. Masen Wray would score his second of the night at 18:13 to get the Attack within four. The lead would be extended to five less than a minute later as Red would score his second of the game, giving London a 7-2 heading into the second intermission.
I would take only 1:38 into the final frame for David Bedkowski to make it a 7-3 game with his first of the playoffs. But it was too little to late for the Attack as Read would record the hat trick at the 14:26 mark of the third sealing the victory for London. Masen Wray would get a hat trick of his own with 2:18 to go in the game as a feel good moment for Owen Sound despite the loss to a much superior opponent this season.
The Knights complete the sweep in Owen Sound with the victory and outshoot the Attack 53-19 in the process. Austin Elliot collects another win with only 15 saves while Carter George suffers the loss doing all he could in stopping 45 of 53 shots.
With London finishing first overall in the OHL, they will host the lowest seeded team remaining after round one is complete.
